PRE-K PROGRAM OVERVIEW - please note that the Pre-K Program is held in the Small Hall. The number there is 877-2901.
The beginning of our daily routine includes a period of time for child-initiated activity, which is known as free play.
During this time children can choose:
Participation at teacher-planned centres.
Play in the different learning centres
Participate in group activities
We have Circle Time. This is the time for language development, songs, stories, games, finger plays and discussion.
Children also enjoy gym/outdoor time and trips to the Library. One book may be signed out and then it must be returned the following week.
Please send your child to Pre-K in comfortable wash and wear clothes. We do lots of activities. We do use aprons but sometimes paint sneaks its way into areas not covered. A full set of extra clothes should be sent in a plastic bag in case it's needed. Rubber-soled, non-marking shoes are required for inside and may be left at school.
Please label all shoes and clothing.
HOURS AND FEES
Fees are due at the office at the beginning of each month. Post dated cheques are preferred. These are returned if you withdraw your child from the program.
There is currently one session:
Mornings: Tuesday and Thursday from 8:45 am to 12:00 noon. $140 a month
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Please bring your child into the program through the main entrance at the Small Hall. Remove boots and shoes just inside the first door and place them in a “cubby”. Please greet the instructors with your child before leaving your child.
Doors open 5 minutes before class begins. Please pick your child up promptly at 12:00.
RELEASE OF CHILD POLICY
Parents must enter the classroom to pick up their child. We can only release children to an adult who has been previously authorized by you. If we have not met the person picking up your child, he/she will be asked for picture ID. Your child’s safety is our priority!
SHOW AND TELL
The RED show and tell BAG willl be sent home with your child when its your child’s show and tell day next class. On these days, bring one item in the bag with your child’s name on it. Children are asked to leave it in their cubby until circle time. Items that pertain to our theme or treasures found in nature are suggestions for show and tell items. Items that start with the letters of the month could also be brought in.
We are accepting applications for the following positions:
* Daytime disinfection team members
* On-call EAs
